2005 News
December 27, 2005 - New Year's Eve
Hope everyone is having a good holiday. We've got a little Truckstop Preachers news to let you know about.Be sure to listen in on Friday, December 30th to 91.7 WSGE out of Gaston College. We're doing a live in-studio performance and interview at 11am to help promote the New Year's Eve show with The Avett Brothers and Menage at The Neighborhood Theatre. The show is actually sold out right now. The Neighborhood Theatre is offering a contest to win a few remaining tickets:

The theatre has 12 tickets left and here is how it is going to go: First you need to send an email to boxoffice@neighborhoodtheatre.com explaining in 50 words or less why you should be selected to receive some of the remaining 12 tickets. This is a simple contest giving you a chance to get in the show and clear your conscience as to why you don't already have the tickets. We do ask that you make sure to write "I want the Avett Tickets" as the subject line in the email, include a phone number and don't ask for more than 2...unless your reason is just that good:)

We would actually suggest using "I Want the Truckstop Preachers Tickets" in the subject line in the email. Who knows, it may work. ;) We'll be starting around 9pm with Menage following at 10pm and the Avetts at 11pm. Be sure to tune in Friday and hope to see you out on Saturday! Hope you have Happy New Year!

Just wanted to let ya'll know what's been going on with the band in case you were wondering. Since the "Official" CD release in October, we've been sending CDs to radio stations across the nation. We've been getting a lot of great response lately from areas all over the country. (WOW! We thought they were playing it on WSGE out of pity.) Most stations have been playing "Vegas Bound", "#5 With Coffee" and "Hit N' Run". We debuted the Americana Music Chart at #230 and now a month later we're at #79 and moving up!

Now for the begging and pleading...

If you have any friends or family in other areas across the country who listen to these free format radio stations, ask them to tune in and request a Truckstop Preachers song. Here's a page with some of the radio stations across the country that have the CD and are regularly playing it. Some of them are internet radio stations broadcasting to 60,000 computers while others are like our friends at WSGE in Dallas, NC. They support the music, not just the dollars.

We've also scheduled some time off for November and December. We've been working on some new material for live shows and the next CD. We hope to have it ready by next year.

Thanks for all your continued support, showing up for shows, buying the record, and begging for the deerhead. Hope to see ya'll out soon!

We really appreciate all the support for the month's past shows. The Honky Tonk Heartbreak went over great! We'd like to thank Mark & Lisa for having us for the first annual event. The Rounders and Bo-Stevens kicked ass as always! We really enjoyed the show with Southern Culture on the Skids at Ziggy's this past month and we hope to be doing more with them in the future. You guys in Winston Salem make it well worth the drive!

We've got a couple more shows lined up for the month. Friday, we'll be at The Evening Muse with Jason Herring. Jason is also from Rock Hill, and will be playing solo to start the show @ 10:00. Saturday, we'll head up to Norfolk, VA with The Loose Lugnuts to play with Rylo for the Howler's Halloween Hootenany. Be sure to dress up and we hope to see ya'll out!

3rd CD Release? Yea, we're releasing the CD again! Well, not really. The Truckstop Preachers CD will be distributed nationally to music stores through Burnside Distribution starting Tuesday, October 11th. This means the CD can be ordered from music stores across the country. So if you haven't picked up a copy from a show or didn't want to order online, make sure you drop by your favorite music store and ask them to order it for you.

We've got some really cool shows coming up in October. Oktoberfest in NoDa, Honky Tonk Heartbreak at Puckett's, and an opening spot with Southern Culture on the Skids at Ziggy's. We'll also be doing an in-studio session at WSGE 91.7on Friday, October 7th to help promote the Honky Tonk Heartbreak. Be sure to tune in!

We appreciate everybody showing up last week for the shows. It was nice to be back at The Evening Muse again. Sorry about the mess Joe and Lea. Those who made it out to Coach's realize that Nathan's life-long ambition is to be a sports announcer for WSOC. Better watch your back Harold!

We've added a few things to the site this past week if you haven't noticed. If you're not on the email list and would like to be added, take the time and fill out the form to the right. Be sure to fill in the "City, State" section. We try to send it out the regions that we're playing that way you don't receive emails about shows you can't attend.

We've also added some new/old pictures to the site. You'll need Flash to view the photo sets. If you have pictures you'd like to share, feel free to send them to us.

Hope to see ya'll out this weekend!

Danny-Thon was a HUGE success! All the bands were great and all the help was much appreciated. The event was able to raise about twice of what we expected! We recorded the benefit and will be putting it on CD and DVD within the next few months. Keep checking back to see when they will be available.

We would like to apologize for those who showed up at The Rat's Nest for the show last Saturday. The rain caused some flooding in the store and we didn't think it would be too safe to plug into the outlets while standing in 3 inches of water. :)

June and July have been great! The Amps 11 party was great and we met some really nice folks out at The Room. Be sure to check the new July issue when you get a chance. We'd like to thank the Visulite Theatre and Kevn Kinney's Sun Tangled Angel Revival for the great show! Kevn puts on a great live show! His encore was unbelievable! HRW 2005 went over great! As always, we'd like to send a big thanks to Dave Quick and crew for his commitment to this festival. It was really nice meeting everybody at the Neighborhood Theatre. Can't wait to get back up there as well!

Be sure to come by the NoDa block party July 30. We'll be playing at The Rat's Nest (around the corner from The Evening Muse). Later that night Jem Crossland & the Hypertonics & The Straight 8's will be playing the Evening Muse.

Be sure to make it out to DANNY-THON on July 31st at the Rock Hill VFW. I'm sure a few of you have seen Danny Guyton play with us from time to time. You know, the really weird guy with the beret and the "Tele-Banjo". Danny is on some hard times due to some health problems. The event for him to help offset some medical costs. We're also selling $1 raffle tickets for a $1000 Cash Prize. We'll have event tickets and raffle tickets at all of our shows if you feel like contributing...and you better! See ya'll around!

The shows went great for May and we're looking forward to June. We'd like to thank Jay Stephans (Ziggy's) and Jim Mallonee (House of Blues) for the opportunity to play their great venues. (Sorry about the deer head incident.) The crowd was great at both shows and we hope to see more of ya'll at upcoming shows.

The new CD is out and ready for your hot little hands! You can click the album cover on the right to take you to Woody's Music to purchase the CD. Or save on the shipping and show up at one of the shows this month to pick one up in person! Online ordering is also available from our record label, Look Out Mabel (www.lookoutmabel.com) and Amps 11 .

Be sure to check out the Amps 11 Kick-Off Party at The Room (1812 Montford Dr , across from Park Road Shopping Center), Saturday June 18th. 4 Bands: In-V, Virginia Reel, Poprocket and us. FREE Amps 11 T-Shirts to first 100 in the door! If you haven't picked up a copy, you need to. We're featured on a disc that is included. Hope to see you out!

Alright. Been a pretty busy month so far. Charleston, Savannah, Raleigh, Norfolk. We'd like to thank the Defilers, TJ the DJ, all the folks that showed up at the shows. We really appreciate it! We really owe ya a PBR!

The new pressing of the CD is in the works. We'll update you on the CD release. The CD will be on the Look Out Mabel, Record Label (www.lookoutmabel.com). This label has been started by our newly announced manager, Jeff Lowery.

Be on the lookout for a new magazine in the Charlotte area called "Amps Eleven". The first copy will have a compilation CD with several Charlotte area musicians (one of our songs included).

We've got some really cool shows planned out for the next few months. May 15th we'll be opening for 38 Special at the House of Blues. We'll also be opening for David Allan Coe at Ziggy's in Winston Salem May 21st.

Oh yeah, here's the new website. Not a whole lot has changed as far as content. We hope to come up with something a little different later on, but this will have to do for right now.

Thanks for visiting the site and hope to see ya at the next show!

Well, I guess it's official. We are now TRUCKSTOP PREACHERS. So, if your honky-tonk souls need some savin', you're probably ready for the new disc. We're hoping to have it ready in about a month. We're going to be adding a few live tracks to the 11 originals from the "Cowboys & Engines" for the new disc. I know, I know... you're thinking "A marketing ploy to sell more discs". I swear, we're not trying to resell you the new disc, just so you have the live tracks. In fact, if you've bought the "Cowboys & Engines" disc and want the new CD, we'll send you a live CD from the Tsunami Benefit in February at the Double Door Inn in Charlotte, NC. That's pretty fair don't you think?

Oh, if you get a chance, check out our MySpace.com page. It's www.myspace.com/truckstoppreachers. We hope we'll meet a lot of new fans through the site. Hope to see ya'll out at the shows.

Hope everybody's having a great new year so far. January has brought about some change for 4 on the Floor. We've decided to change our name to "Truckstop Preachers". "4 on the Floor" is a great name, so much that several bands have used it and several are currently using it. Rather than deal with legal problems in the future, we've decided to start new and change the name. This website will still be up and as soon as the new site is up, we'll post a link.

ElvisFest 2005 was great! Thanks for all those who showed up. The deerhead suffered an untimely death during the show. Nathan assures me that there is another one in the works.

The photo page has been updated. There's four picture sets from the tour in France. The files may be a large and may take a while to load.

February 4 we'll be putting on a Tsnuami benefit at the Double Door Inn in Charlotte. Opening will be Incognito Mosquito & Slick Shift. Hope to see ya'll there!

Schedules: Current - 2007 - 2006 - 2005 - 2004
